How to hang pictures on a concrete wall

Concrete walls are beautiful and durable, but they can be difficult to hang pictures on. Concrete is a hard and porous material that can be difficult to drill into. However, with the right tools and methods, it is entirely possible to hang pictures on concrete walls without damaging the wall.

Preparations

Before you begin, it's important to do some preparation. Measure where you want to hang the painting and mark the spot with a pencil. Use a spirit level to make sure the marking is straight.

Three methods

There are three main methods for hanging pictures on concrete walls:

  • Concrete hooks
  • Self-adhesive nails
  • Plug and screw

Concrete hooks

Concrete hooks are a simple and convenient option for lightweight paintings. The hooks have small pins that you hammer into the wall.

Instructions

  1. Measure where you want to hang the painting and mark the spot with a pencil.
  2. Place the concrete hook on the marking.
  3. Drive the pins into the wall with a hammer.
  4. Hang the painting on the hook.

Tip

  • Use a concrete hook designed for concrete walls.
  • If you have a heavy board, you can use several concrete hooks to increase stability.

Self-adhesive nails

Self-adhesive nails are another convenient option for lightweight paintings. The nail attaches to the wall using polymer chains.

Instructions

  1. Measure where you want to hang the painting and mark the spot with a pencil.
  2. Peel off the protective film on the nail.
  3. Press the nail firmly onto the marking.
  4. Hang the board on the nail.

Tip

  • Follow the instructions on the packaging.
  • If you have a heavy board, it may be difficult to get the nail to attach properly.

Plug and screw

Dowels and screws are the most durable option for heavier paintings. You drill a hole in the wall and insert a dowel. Then you screw a screw into the dowel.

Instructions

  1. Measure where you want to hang the painting and mark the spot with a pencil.
  2. Pre-drill a hole in the wall with a concrete drill bit.
  3. Insert a plug into the hole.
  4. Screw a screw into the plug.
  5. Hang the board on the screw.

Tip

  • Use a plug designed for concrete walls.
  • Use a screw that is strong enough to support the board.
  • Be sure to drill a hole deep enough for the plug.

With the right tools and methods, hanging pictures on concrete walls is easy. Choose the method that suits your needs and your picture.
